Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?

Film and Press Junket Review

Tiffany Movie Chatter

Last week I attended the press screening and junket for Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married.
Although I wasn't a fan of the stage production of the film, I'm a Tyler fan and I hoped the film
version would be worth my 1hr and 58mins of time.....The film did not disappoint.

Why Did I Get Married is truly Tyler Perry's best film work.

The film follows the lives of 4 married couples who have been friends since their college days.
The friends come together for their annual winter getaway, and with them they bring along their
relationship's
ups and downs. During the trip, each couple's relationship baggage becomes exposed and they are
forced to deal
with certain aspects of their personal lives and their not so perfect lives being revealed.

Film Highlights

I am so excited to tell people to see this film. One of the film's highlights was the casting.  I love
how Tyler mixes in not so familiar actors with already established thespians. The characters were
successful black people-and their success came with no excuse. No one was a reformed drug dealer,
or no one bought a lottery ticket and and hit the jackpot-these characters were just successful because
they did what successful responsible people do-WORK and dedicate themselves to their goals and the
results look like the people in Why Did I Get Married.

Everyone's acting skills were so on point, but Jill Scott, Janet Jackson, Tasha Smith & Richard T. Jones
gave stand out performances.  We will see more starring roles from Ms. Jill, she was superb. Janet
Jackson was able to take my mind off of the fact she has a brother named Michael, and my girl Tasha
Smith delivered a performance filled with edge and perfect comedic timing...truly she's nuts in this film.
Richard T. Jones played his part so well that I'm still mad at him and it's difficult for me to give him
props in this review. He was amazing as a jerk!

Tyler Loves His Female Fan Base

Tyler shows his appreciation for his female fan base by casting great looking male leads. Not only
are the male characters FINE, but they also had a brotherhood bond established which made them
accountable to one another and they encouraged each other through their marriage issues. It was great
to see them help each other build on their relationships instead of tearing them down.

Tyler mentioned at the press junket that casting director, Rueben Cannon cast Lamman Rucker in the
film.
Ladies, this film will introduce to some and present to others the FINE-ss of Mr. Rucker. Ladies, ladies,
ladies...,

where is my church fan, it's getting really hot in herrrree. I'll say this, he redefines Tall Dark &
Handsome...whewww,
where is that church fan....
